Oracle

DataConnect offers the Full Experience with Oracle. This allows you to create queries using a tile-based drag and drop query builder. The tile-based editor functions with Oracle Native Provider for .NET 4.0, OLEDB and ODBC.

However, automatic joins are currently only supported on Oracle Provider for .NET 4.0 based connections.

We recommend using the Oracle Provider for .NET 4.0 where available.

Create a New Connection

To create a connection to an Oracle server, make sure you are on the Connections tab. Then press the (+) icon at the very left hand side of the window.

Give your Connection a Name

You then need to give your connection a name, and optionally a description.

Connection Type

You then have a choice of connection technologies. We recommend using the Oracle Provider for .NET 4.0 where possible.

Oracle Connections

Select the Connection Type 'Oracle Connections'.

The Data Source is the host name or IP address of the machine running Oracle.

User Id is your username, and Password is your password.

Schemas is a comma seperated list of the schemas you would like DataConnect to present in the tile-based drag and drop query editor. You must provide at least one schema name.

Missing Oracle Provider for .NET 4.0

If you attempt to use the Oracle Provider for .NET 4.0 and you don't have it installed, you will receive an error directing you to the driver download location.

The message will say:

The Oracle Data Provider for .NET 4.0 cannot be found. Please ensure you have the driver installed and configured correctly.

Contact your system administrator or you can download directly from here:

This driver must be installed on the server where the DataConnect Runtime service is installed.

After installing this driver, you may need to reboot the server.

Select the Connection Type 'ODBC Connections' and the Odbc Driver Type of 'Microsoft ODBC for Oracle'.

The Server is the host name or IP address of the machine running Oracle.

Uid is your username, and Pwd your password.

Schemas is a comma seperated list of the schemas you would like DataConnect to present in the tile-based drag and drop query editor. You must provide at least one schema name.
